Discovery Place – this is an interactive science center that is fun for adults and children! They even have an IMAX theater!

US National Whitewater Center – (Host Favorite!) a premier outdoor facility featuring whitewater rafting, biking, zip lines, hiking, rock climbing, live music, craft brews, and more! It's a great place for solo travelers or groups!
Crowder's & Kings Mountain – one of two main peaks within Crowders Mountain State Park, the other peak being The Pinnacle. The park is located in the western Piedmont of North Carolina, about 25 miles west of Charlotte. Great hiking trails and panoramic views!
Rail Trail – Charlotte's Rail Trail is a vibrant public trail that winds through the very heart of the city! Easy walk to several restaurants, breweries & nightlife.
Lake Norman – about 30 minutes from Charlotte and the perfect day trip or weekend escape. This lake has restaurants, trails & activities such as boat rentals & kayaks!
The Quarry at Carrigan Farms – if you have an adventurous spirit and are not afraid to jump into a 25-foot deep natural spring quarry, then this is the place for you. The quarry at Carrigan Farms is not only a beautiful sight, but also a full day of water activities including several rock jump-off points, rope swings, swimming areas, and a sand beach volleyball area.
Lazy 5 Ranch – drive thru zoo with domestic & exotic animals from 6 continents, wagon rides & petting areas.
Amphitheaters – there are a few amphitheaters around Charlotte. They are PNC Music Pavilion, Charlotte Metro Credit Union & AvidXchange Music Factory!
Raffaldini Vineyards – Chianti in the Carolinas! North Carolina Producer of Italian-style dry white and red wines. Absolutely beautiful grounds, views and winery about an hour drive from Charlotte!
Windy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill - a nice apple orchard about 50 mins from our home! Apple picking, hard ciders, donuts and more!
